Project Description
Picasso Painting Self-Portrait
Once a year I go to extreme lengths for a Halloween costume, it’s my excuse to dress wild and stretch my creativity. The process started the year I became Frida Kahlo and I began my photographic self-portraits in the style of famous art. The next year I decided to continue the tradition with my rendition of a living Picasso painting. I transformed into a painting using a mashup of geometric patterns and asymmetrical face paint to simulate Picasso’s cubist paintings.
Process
This costume involved stitching together different fabrics in geometric shapes. The face paint took about 2 hours to put on and was rather uncomfortable after wearing for an entire day. My favorite touch was painting an enormous eye onto my eyelid. When I closed one eye, it appeared that I had 2 very different sized eyes, just like you see in many Picasso paintings.
