3D models are a wonderful visualization tool, both for product design and marketing. During my time as a designer at a tech company, I created renderings during the product development phase to help engineers find design solutions for new products. Many of the models I build from scratch in 3D space while others are modified from models produced by mechanical engineers and architects.

I also use 3D programs for architectural renderings, trade show environments, packaging mock-ups, and interior design.

My favorite 3D program is Sketchup because of it’s low render time and easy interface. Most of my projects have short turnaround times so this program allows me to quickly build a model and use a separate rendering program to get photo-realistic textures and lighting.
