Project Description

Our Community Birth Center Branding

As a pro bono project, I volunteered over 40 hours of my time to help Our Community Birth Center, a Lane County based non-profit, create a full brand identity.  As a mom with a positive experience giving birth at the former Peacehealth Midwifery Birth Center which was closed in mid 2019, I was motivated to volunteer my design services to help bring the Birth Center back to the community. I worked closely with the founder of the Organization to develop a custom logo and branding, web design, marketing materials, social media graphics, and business cards. These materials helped kickstart the official fundraising campaign and provided an easy-to-use set of tools for organization members to create their own marketing materials for future events.

Marketing Materials

In order to facilitate the organization’s ongoing need for marketing materials, I created several custom editable flyer and business card templates that are easy to use for organization members with no training in design. The templates allow members to replace copy and images for different applications.

Process

For this project, the client provided a few sketches of their logo concept which was created by one of the organization volunteers. They specified the need for the logo to be gender neutral and non-heterosexual and to incorporate hands to symbolize holding a pregnant belly or baby’s head. The community-focused aspect of the organization is communicated with the inclusion of a flower emblem which represents groundedness and community/individual growth. The circular shape of the logo represents the wrap around services to support families through the entire pregnancy and birth process.
